PARADISE FOUND IN EL SALVADOR
MIZATA POINT RESORT
Mizata Point Resort(MPR) is located 32 miles north
west of Libertad directly on a beautiful right hand point break. Which is great because you are not in the overcrowded, over populated breaks everyone knows about like Libertad, K59, K61, Sunzal and El tunco. Upon entering the resort you will find beautiful lush landscaping and depending on the time you arrive you will be greeted by the owner George and his very friendly family and pets. No matter what time you arrive it is a very welcoming experience. I have arrived in the afternoon and in the middle of the night and both experiences were pleasant.
Mizata has a driver Walter who is one of the most pleasant locals you will meet. He is super friendly and punctual. He will not only pick you up from the airport and drop you off, but also take you anywhere else you may need to go while in El Salvador for a very reasonable fee. Walter always has a smile on his face and will treat you as a friend.

The resort has a nice pool over looking the point to relax in after taking sessions or just chill at. There are hammocks all over the property to relax in as well. The property is safe and secure as there are barbed wire fences surrounding it along with concrete walls. If that wasn't enough there is a guard that is on site from sun up to sun down armed with a shot gun.
There are three options for rooms at MPR, the single, double or triple. All are very spacious and very comfortable with plenty of room to spread out. The mattresses are very comfortable and the bathroom is large with great showers. The rooms are clean and will be kept up while you are there.
Most of the rooms are directly on the water with views of the ocean from your bed. There are spacious porches with hammocks and chairs for hanging out and watching the waves. This place has been built by an american for comfort. The rooms all have A/C so you will be super comfortable here. I have not found rooms like this anywhere in El Salvador and I have done my research.
The food at the resort is prepared by George and his family and is exquisite. It is fresh, natural and super filling. Upon contacting the resort you can get your food included with your room and is the way I recommend. There are plenty of options to choose from and I have yet to find anything I did not like through two visits. MPR really goes out of their way to make sure you get full. You will not walk away from a meal feeling hungry. The food is so good for you there you really don't have to think about it. I celebrated my birthday there two years in a row now and each year the owner George made me his out of this world carrot cake.
The Waves
The waves here are world class. There is a little something for everyone at MPR. The point by far is my favorite wave and the whole draw of this place. It is a right hand point that when firing you can ride for about 300 yards. I have a video of an 18 second ride and that was when it wasn't even doing it's thing.
The point is for the intermediate to advanced surfer, it is not for beginners, but if you are at the right level you will love this wave. There is also a place called tweeners right in front of the resort that breaks like a beach break left and right. There is also the beach break about a 5 min walk from the resort that when smaller offers up plenty of barrels. You will score waves if you visit and leave fulfilled. I have traveled all over central america and only returned to one spot and mizata point is that spot. I highly recommend you visiting this spot at least once in your life time.
